I should admit, it took me a little while to process through what this theme of "light and dark" meant. Then it clicked -- light and dark are the extremes of life, the both/and. It reminds me in part of the literal days and nights we each plod through, the rhythm of the seasons; the growth, pain, change, and renewal. It also speaks to me of the shadows, shades and light within each of us; the fear, joy, brokenness, and beauty. Ultimately, I think we have to be awake if we want to truly see. We have to know when to acknowledge the darkness and ask for help. And we have to risk letting our own strength shine to let others find their own. The "theme song" for this mix became obvious; it's from track #2, which has stellar lyrics all around, but this line is my favorite: "To live and to love will always be dangerous, but it's better than playing it safe."
